While searching the countryside for Sabina and her father, Matthew is pursued by the dangerous Gustav von Schmundt, section chief for the Stasi. Matthew finally finds the beautiful Sabina and presents her with a rose, a symbol of their deep and undying love.

This entire series (Secret of the Rose) is so RICH! VERY VERY hard to put the book down. I love historical fiction (especially written by Michael Phillips) and, though combined with romance, that too is RICH – definitely not of the dimestore novel variety but tender and mature and fulfilling. And, if you don’t understand the love of The Father by now, you will after reading this series.
This is the third book of this series. I was completely enthralled with it. Magnificent writing and definitely to be a classic. Of course, I read all the other books which were equally wonderful.
